Bomberman in an arcade video game developed by Hudson soft. The original game was released on various platforms in Japan in 1983 and first adapted for the Famicon in 1985 and in 1987 for the NES. This game is the pioneer of a great franchise.
This game, more than an arcade game, is a game that contains a lot of strategy, to complete it completely we must plan our movements, any false step can lead us to an inappropriate path.
The Bomberman Story
Bomberman is a robot that is dedicated to the production of bombs. This robot is enslaved by evil forces in an underground complex. One day Bomberman hears a rumor that any robot can escape from the underground complex and whoever does so when they reach the surface becomes human. Bomberman finds an opportunity to escape, but it won't be an easy task since a large number of enemies will chase us. Bomberman can only defend himself with the bombs from his production. Will we make it to the surface, and become human?
The controls during the game will be: with the d pad we move, with the A button lays down a bomb, with the B button we use the detonator when we have it, with the SELECT button we choose between start the game or Continue a game that we have the code, START we enter the game once inside we can pause it.
How to play Bomberman NES
The objective of this game is to reach the surface of the earth, we start in the deepest part of the underground complex. Each level has a defined number of enemies that we must defeat, once defeated we can exit through the exit that we must find, for this we break the bricks with the bombs.
In case an enemy touches us or a bomb explodes next to us or the flame reaches us, we will lose a life. In each level we find hidden in the bricks some Power-up that will help Bomberman to increase his power.
Bomberman NES Items
Bombs (A): In the early stages of the game we can only place one bomb at a time and it has a very weak firepower.
Bricks (B) – These are destroyed by a bomb blast or when flames reach it. Hidden in the bricks we find the power-ups and the exitways. We must place the bombs in places where we break the largest number of bricks.
Concrete (C): These are invulnerable to any attack.
Exitways (D): these are hidden between the bricks, in order to enter we must have defeated all the enemies on the screen.
Bombs (E): this allows us to place a greater number of bombs, the largest number of bombs we can place is 10.
Flames (F): this increases the fire range of the explosion, the maximum we can reach is five spaces.
Detonator (G): this allows us to detonate the bombs whenever we want by pressing the B button.
Skates (H): this item allows us to move faster.
Bomb-Walk (I): this item allows us to go through the bombs when we place them.
Wall-Walker (J): this item allows us to walk through the bricks.
Question (K): This item makes us invincible to enemies and bombs for 35 seconds.
Flame-Proof (L): this item makes us invincible to our own bombs.
Enemy Characters of Bomberman NES
There are eight types of enemies. These enemies have particular movements, we must learn their movements. The enemies are
Valcom (A) – The simplest enemy we encounter in the game, this enemy has a known fixed movement pattern.
O'Neal (B): this is the second simplest enemy, faster than the Valcom although it does change direction.
Dahl (C): This enemy moves faster than the O'Neals, has a predictable known movement pattern although he can change his movement.
Minvo (D): These enemies move faster and their movement pattern is unpredictable.
Ovape (E): This enemy moves slowly and is able to go through brick blocks, its movement pattern is unpredictable.
Doria (F): This enemy has medium movement and can go through brick blocks, his movement pattern is equally unpredictable to Ovape.
Pass (G): This enemy moves quickly and unlike the other enemies, it will look for us when we are close to them.
Pontan (H): This enemy moves very quickly and is highly unpredictable. This is the deadliest enemy in the entire game.
Bomberman NES Strategies
To get to the surface of the earth we need to go through 50 stages, every five stages we find a bonus level.
The best strategy that we can use is to first defeat all the enemies, then we dedicate ourselves to looking for the power-up and finally we look for the exitways.
In case we have Flame-Proof we can make a super attack for it we repeatedly press the A and B buttons this will create a continuous explosion, in case we have all the flames we will increase our attack power.
When we have completed all the stages we will be able to get to the surface of the earth and we will verify that the myth was true, we have become human, possibly we will join a Galactic Commando...
